I currently am working with infants and reading on my own about this age range. As I go along I will journal what I am studying and give the links for anyone who wishes to read them.

How I got into the Montessori Method:
I have been a stay at home mom while my kids were growing up and when they were all in grade school, I felt kind of an empty nest. I went back to college to find out what I wanted to do. I loved staying at home with my kids and even homeschooled my boys a few years. One of the most rewarding things I have ever heard from them is: "My mom taught me how to read."
I eventually took a class called "Education In America". This class surveyed all forms of education and when we came to Montessori, it hit a good nerve. I had to know more. The more I learned about it the more I realized how super natural the method is and that I had been already doing much of it myself. In fact the Montessori Method felt like me.
One night my sisters neighbor "Lisa" was driving me home to Lodi because I had helped my sister by driving her car for her. On the way home Lisa said, " that's were I work right there" As she pointed to a building on the corner. I looked and it was a montessori school. I didn't even realize it all this time I had driven passed this school. I asked, "Are you a Montessori Teacher?" She said yes and I couldn't believe it. I had been wanting to talk to someone about The Montessori Method and here she was right next door to my sister in Stockton and worked right down the street from me in Lodi.
She and I talked about the training. I found out it was up in Fair Oaks one night a week for 4 hours over the course of a year with a two week crash course in the summer. Fair Oaks being just east of Sacramento would take about 45 minutes one way, -an hour and a half total. I knew I could do this and the rest is history.
A few months later I was working with Lisa at the same school as an intern. Lisa recently married since then and is now looking for a new home with hubby in the stockton area amidst the foreclosure crisis. Two years later I am building my childcare in a Montessori environment. I soon hope to set up a full Montessori Classroom for 3-6. I am working on a separate area for infants and toddlers now.
